Important Changes to Airspace Effective 2/20/25

Effective 2/20/2025: important Changes To Centennial Airport (kapa) And Buckley Space Force Base (kbkf) Class D Airspace

Significant updates to the airspace configurations surrounding Centennial Airport (KAPA) and Buckley Space Force Base (KBKF) will take effect on February 20, 2025. These updates involve the expansion and reshaping of airspace boundaries, affecting flight operations in the region.

Key Changes to the Airspace:

Expanded Airspace Footprints: Both KAPA and KBKF airspaces have been expanded, covering larger areas than previously.

Revised Shape of KAPA Airspace: The airspace around Centennial Airport (KAPA) is no longer circular. It has been reshaped to better reflect operational needs in the vicinity.

Elimination of the Corridor Between KAPA and KBKF Airspaces: Previously, a corridor separated the airspaces of KAPA and KBKF. With the new changes, this corridor has been removed, resulting in a more integrated airspace structure between the two airports.

VFR Reporting Points: Some VFR reporting points that were once located outside the airspace boundaries of KAPA and KBKF may now fall within the new airspace areas.

These changes are designed to enhance safety and efficiency in one of the busiest airspaces in the region. By familiarizing yourself with these modifications, you will be better equipped to navigate the airspace safely.

All users of Centennial Airport (KAPA) and surrounding airspace are strongly advised to review updated charts and publications prior to flight. These changes could impact your flight planning and operations, so it's important to ensure you are up-to-date and fully understand the revised airspace structure.

Fly safe and stay informed!
