It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Olislagers, former Director of Centennial Airport, who passed away this morning after his battle with pancreatic cancer. Robert was a beloved leader in the aviation community, acting as the longest-serving Director of Centennial Airport for over 20 years before retiring in 2021. His impact on the airport and the broader aviation industry is immeasurable.

During his tenure, Robert’s leadership and vision helped shape Centennial Airport into one of the most successful and respected general aviation airports in the country. His legacy includes countless accomplishments, accolades, and awards. He served as Chair of the Colorado Aeronautics Board, held the title of Past President of both the Southwest and Northwest Chapters of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), and contributed significantly to numerous AAAE Boards and Committees. His efforts were recognized through various prestigious awards, including the AAAE Distinguished Service Award, the Airport Partnership Award, the National Aviation Transportation Association Capt. Eldridge Lifetime Achievement Award, and honors from the University Aviation Association.

After retiring from Centennial Airport, Robert continued his dedication to aviation as Senior Coordinator of the Eliminate Aviation Gasoline Lead Emissions (EAGLE) program, working toward a lead-free future for general aviation by 2030. In recognition of his lifelong contributions, Robert was inducted into the Colorado Aviation Hall of Fame in 2021.

Beyond his professional achievements, Robert will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering support for his colleagues, and deep love for aviation. His influence will continue to be felt for years to come.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Marilyn, during this difficult time. Robert’s legacy of leadership, passion, and dedication will forever be a part of Centennial Airport and the aviation community.
