Noise Abatement Procedures
Voluntary Noise Abatement Procedures
The following measures are recommended practices to reduce sound levels in the vicinity of Centennial Airport (APA). These procedures should be used only when practical; in all cases safety and air traffic control instructions take precedence.
Noise Abatement Procedures:
Traffic pattern altitude 6,800 ft MSL. Inbound and outbound traffic, minimum altitude 7,300ft MSL.
Avoid noise sensitive areas, 1 1/2 miles north/northwest, 1 mile southeast, 1 1/2 miles southwest and 1 mile east of airport. Helicopter operators please contact tower for preferred noise abatement routes.
Stage 2 aircraft over 70,000lbs not allowed. Preferred operating hours for Stage 2 aircraft 7:00am to 10:00pm. Please follow NBAA noise abatement procedures when applicable. For more information on aircraft noise abatement please call Centennial Airport Noise office at 303-790-0598 Ext. 2909
General Guidelines:
- Avoid high RPM settings.
- Consider Runway 17L or 35R for jet operations.
- Make power setting changes slowly.
- Maintain synchronized propellors and engines.
- Minimize use of reverse thrust.
- Use best rate of climb.
- Use thrust reduction techniques.
